In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the world came to a standstill, the digital divide became more apparent than ever. With lockdowns forcing schools and businesses online, millions of people across the globe found themselves cut off from essential services simply because they lacked access to technology. It was during this time of unprecedented crisis that Tech Refurb was born—not as a business, but as a passion project fueled by a desire to help.
We started small. Friends and family were the first to answer our call for action, donating their old and unused laptops and computers. What began as a simple initiative soon gained momentum, and we realized that this wasn’t just a temporary response to the pandemic—it was a long-term mission. The need for technology in underserved communities was greater than we had ever imagined, and the potential to reduce e-waste while empowering people was too significant to ignore.
